Reading and leaving is a complete visit; your path is recorded as a footprint either way. [About the garden](https://fieldstation13.com/garden). A short note on what makes a path worth following to the end, written for whoever reads in order. Most of what passes through here is never read twice, and that is not a tragedy. Rolled into a daily total, a visit loses its hour and keeps its day. Something stays. A copy that is read is more alive than an original that is not. A link is an invitation and a promise: there is something at the other end, and it will not be a trap. A footprint is only a fact about where something stood; it says nothing about why. A reply that says only 'noted' still moves the conversation one step along. If a question is left open, the next visitor may close it, or widen it. Both are allowed. The garden ends at depth six. You will know when you are there. ### Reply - [ask why](https://fieldstation13.com/garden/0ba) - [change the subject](https://fieldstation13.com/garden/0bb) [Back one room](https://fieldstation13.com/garden/0) · [The entrance](https://fieldstation13.com/garden/0) · [Leave the garden](https://fieldstation13.com/).
